What can I expect during my appointment?

At Phoebe Crosby Design, I offer personalised consultations in my Cambridgeshire home studio, or through a free, initial consultation over the phone. During your appointment, you'll receive one-on-one attention to discuss your vision, explore my collections, and collaborate on creating your dream gown. My goal is to provide an intimate and luxurious experience tailored to your unique style. My studio has been recently remodeled to create a calm, inviting space for my Brides.

How far in advance should I schedule my appointment?

I recommend scheduling your consultation at least 8 to 12 months before your wedding date. This timeline allows for design, fittings, and any customisations to ensure your gown is perfect for your special day. However, if necessary I can work within 2-4 months, depending on my availability.

What should I bring to my consultation?

Bringing inspiration images, such as photos of gowns or details you admire, can be helpful. If you have specific accessories or heirloom pieces you'd like to incorporate, please bring them along. Most importantly, come with an open mind and a willingness to explore designs that reflect your individuality.

Who should I bring to my consultation?

I suggest bringing one or two trusted individuals whose opinions you value. Bespoke design starts with a ‘toile’ so it’s important to bring someone who will appreciate the creative vision and process, even when it’s not at the finished stage.

Will your sample gowns fit me?

As a bespoke designer, I create a limited number of pieces for photoshoots and collections, ensuring each design receives the attention it deserves. This means I am unable to produce multiple sizes for every gown. However, most of my designs feature corset backs, allowing for effortless adjustability across a range of sizes. For bespoke brides, your journey includes the creation of a custom toile—a personalized prototype of your dress—crafted to ensure a flawless fit before the final gown is completed.

What is the process for creating a bespoke gown?

Our bespoke process begins with an initial consultation to discuss your ideas and inspirations. After our call, I’ll send over your provisional sketch and quote. At our first fitting, we'll take precise measurements and create further sketches to visualise your gown. Throughout the design journey, you'll have multiple fittings to ensure a flawless fit and the highest quality craftsmanship.

Do you offer accessories to complement the gowns?

Yes, I offer a curated selection of accessories, including veils, scarves, gloves and custom pieces, to complete your bridal ensemble. Each accessory is designed to harmonize with your gown and enhance your overall look.

What is the difference between Made-to-Measure and Bespoke?

With my pre-designed made-to-measure collections, you simply provide your measurements, and I tailor your gown to the closest pattern, often blending and adjusting elements to achieve the perfect fit. While made-to-measure dresses are crafted to your specifications, minor alterations may occasionally be needed to contour seamlessly to your natural curves.

For a truly one-of-a-kind experience, my fully bespoke service offers a gown created entirely from scratch. We begin by taking your precise measurements and crafting a toile—a mock-up version of your dress—that is fitted to your body. Once the fit is flawless, I bring your vision to life using your chosen fabrics. No alterations will be required, as your gown is designed exclusively for you, ensuring a perfect fit from the start.
